We need to be more prepared to speak to all the people in the room. Ansonia is bringing the tech divas a wealth of information around presenting that will help you own the room in any situation.

Here are some great tips out of the gate on the show:

  • Talk to everyone in the room

  • Use the power of your voice and body language

  • Enlist audience participation through a call and response

  • Own your points

  • Use creative language

Most of all, be in the present moment and aim to connect to your audience. Think about what they will learn, gain, or feel after your presentation. For women in tech, it is important to promote and establish you expertise in a given situation. This will get you the credibility out of the gate so that you can focus on the topic.

She drops even more speaking gems as the show goes on around mastering your speech craft. Here are some mentioned:

  • Practice your presentations

  • Read through your materials

  • Send it to someone you trust to scan it for any areas to improve

  • Present it to yourself out loud

  • Record as a dry run and record the live if you can to replay

  • Leverage the power of the pause

We also discuss how to get organized and how to create the format of a presentation. It all goes back to knowing the audience and spending the time with those that invited you to make sure you meet the mark. This could allow you to reverse engineer the presentation to make the most impact when delivered. Try to incorporate the crowd, organizers, or even the organization into your presentation.
