What does designing wine cellars and having super human hearing have to do with a career in tech? EVERYTHING! Join this podcast episode with Margaux Miller, now serving as the Head of Community for TopTal as we talk about all the reasons why a career in technology is the best. We discuss the vast amount of opportunity in tech and how it is a great place for women and all kinds of diverse thought. Going into the tech industry is not something you will regret. You do not need a tech background to do it.

The Tech Diva Success Podcast got to spend some time with Margaux Miller, who shares our core mission to spark tech diva success. She is the Head of Community at TopTal where she is focused on connecting Toptal’s exclusive and fully remote network of top talent around the world through networking events, pro bono work, mentorship programs, and more.

Margaux has 11+ years experience building networks and partnerships, leading community engagement, and overseeing program direction, working primarily in the technology industry and with innovative start-ups. Actively engaged in both personal and corporate social responsibility, Margaux founded the Manitoba Women in Tech group, and is an advocate for diversity in tech as well as digital literacy and accessibility.

Margaux is also the Host and Producer of Start Canada Podcast, where she interviews start-up founders, innovators, and thought leaders from the heart of Canada, talking entrepreneurship, leadership, mental health, and investment - finding out the real story of how they launched and grew their big idea. She sets aside her startup mic and dives into how many great opportunities there are for women in tech.

Although she did not have a traditional start, Margaux has an open mind and so many amazing capabilities to transfer her skills into tech. This is a great example of the transfer being made in community roles, but there are many ways you can see how your strengths from one chapter of life transfer.

Margaux was a high end wine seller design and had the voice over for a cartoon. She found her way into tech by listening to the language, connecting to people, and most of all making a difference. With so much of business and our world relying on tech, there are so many opportunities as well for all kinds of people in technology.

The pandemic kicked off some shifts of more women moving away from the workplace, but technology can actually provide ways to bring people together anywhere, anytime. If you aren’t in tech, then this convo will leave you ready to join us and if you are already in the field, please share this with someone who can benefit. You might also benefit from talking to Margaux about what they do at TopTal.

This conversation alone is a fabulous example of a wonderful networking opportunity from the Women Tech Net family, so it’s always a pleasure to carry those good vibes outside the event. It was a wonderful talk with Margaux and we were honored to feature her.

We discuss the amazing world of tech where we see:
