Tech Diva Success is found when you show up at work as your best self. Lisa Anderson is the President of Positively in Pursuit, LLC. Lisa is a certified Leadership/Career Coach who also has 25 years of HR experience. Her coaching business focuses on women in leadership who  want to intentionally work on finding their leadership voice, building  their leadership courage, and increasing their leadership (executive) presence so that they can propel their careers. Her new book Invisible Professional to Influential Leader is a leadership tip book for women leaders who want to lead confidently and authentically. We were fortunate to spend time with her to discuss some ways you can shine inside and outside your organization.

Lisa takes her experience as a full time Chief HR Officer (CHRO) and a certified Professional Coach (CPC) as well as a certification in Energy Leadership (ELI-MP), to bring you the best advice to get more success for tech divas. She knows what it takes to grow a career. She works with her clients on next  level career success, leadership branding, and strategic career  positioning.

We start with ways to gain visibility. She definitely works to provide that diversity lens on the job decision side of the house by asking about qualified female candidates. If there are none ready, then she will ask how they are getting them ready. Who would sponsor you for a role when you are not in the room?

Once you get a team, will you be ready with the communication skills you need to build trust with your new team? Building relationships is something you can do right away. Are you clear with your career goals when speaking to your manager?

We discuss tips on how to network, learn new skills, and find mentors you can learn from to build yourself up. It could be as simple as looking at places to volunteer to get that experience. These are things that can create your brand. It would not be a complete conversation without the impact of social media on your brand in building your credibility.

There are more conversations today about brand, your networks, and how those can help you in your potential new role. Finding your voice is absolutely key in the male dominated field of technology.

How can you show leadership courage to share your value with others in the room?

Companies want your voice in the room, so you have a responsibility to share it. Allies can also be part of the solution if they see times when it isn’t happening to advocate for you. Once you get the floor, use the time wisely. It is your unique perspective that can help your organization grow and innovate.

Embrace your values. They will drive your behavior and help you find joy in your work. They drive a lot of how you show up in the workplace. That is how you can eventually be strategic and intentional about building your brand.
